My Singing Monsters

I heard my friend's phone making odd musical sounds and I became curious, he said it's My Singing Monsters. I looked at the game and I could immediately see that this was something me and my wife would enjoy playing. So I told my wife about it and I was surprised to get home from work at 1:30AM to find my wife still awake because she was playing the game. I downloaded the game on my iPad shortly and I can understand why my wife couldn't sleep.

The game allows a player (you) to play god by designing an island. The island will have trees and rocks that you need to remove so that you'll have space for the different kinds of monsters that you can put on the island. The monsters look cute and are interesting to watch with the different movements they make (the movement is pretty repetitive though). More importantly, each type of monster produces a different sound that adds to the catchy musical score.

As you add different monsters into the island, you slowly add more sound components that eventually complete the entire musical score. Sounds differ from percussion instruments, strings, vocals, and many more. Gold is the primary in game currency while diamonds are the secondary and difficult to get game currency. Gold buys decorations and food for the monsters, which will help monsters grow larger and make more gold faster. Diamonds, on the other hand, speed up wait time and allows you to purchase some monsters without breeding.

Sounds simple enough right? But why is it so addicting?

Players will have to level up to get access to other types of monsters and decors - this is where the level grinding begins. New monsters will have to be bred and hatched. Breeding is a hit or miss affair which can get frustrating. If you got enough mulah, you can pay the price to get an egg for hatching right away. Breeding and hatching will take time depending of the type of monster. The waiting is really a pain, but the payout can be big if you luckily get good monsters.

In the process of leveling up, we find ourselves waiting for gold from our monsters to make more food - the constant source of experience that allows us to level up. And once you finally complete the monsters choir on your island...there's another island with a new musical score and new monsters waiting to be unlocked!

My Singing Monsters is really a nice addicting game you can play to kill time, and the game is free for iOS and Android. You'll need a network connection to play though. Try playing it and de-stress!
