Sole Bouchée : must try at Bizu

Sunday night, me and my wife decided to revisit Bizu and have dinner there. My memory is sketchy but it looked to me that their menu was remade. They still have their sure fire food stuff like their 10-hour roast beef and their mixed ravioli, but we wanted to try something different - the Sole Bouchée.

We didn't notice this food item before in the menu, that's why I think the menu was updated. So what is this dish? First you've got some mixed veggies comprised of spinach, mushrooms, peas, cherry tomatoes...then some potatoes, carrots, puff pastry, a lemon wedge (that small pointy thing behind there)...

...and lastly you've got your protein the sole fish chunks all mixed in cream sauce.

We think this dish is brilliant because it tastes amazing. My pregnant wife who hasn't been eating fish ate the fish in this dish.

This dish is brilliant because of the different layers of flavors that just work together. We ate one ingredient at a time and eventually started mixing things together. At our first bite, we got this rich flavor from the cream sauce. The fish tasted like cream dory, the mushroom had a soft chewy texture, the potatoes and carrots were not mushy and are cooked just right, and the puff pastry was buttery but not overwhelming.

And once you start to get a little bored with the rich flavor, mix in a cherry tomato to give a juicy burst of flavor with a light and fruity zing. And if that doesn't refresh your palette, squeeze some drops of lemon to add a stronger zing that tones down the rich flavor from the cream sauce.

The serving size is good for one person. The flavors might be too rich for some people to eat on their own so this could be that extra dish that can be shared in a group. We had a family sized pasta dish and the Sole Bouchée and ended up taking home a good portion of the pasta.

To wrap up our dinner, we had a decaf cappuccino and a personal size Nirvana cake. We had our lovely dinner at Bizu's Greenhills branch located at the Promanade...we were actually surprised that there weren't so many people dining that night.

I am no food critic, my wife ain't one either, but we do love good food. This is a thumbs up from the both of us. So I guess there's only one more thing missing...how much is the Sole Bouchée? 545 PHP without the tax and service charge if I am not mistaken. Is it worth it? Yes it is...once in a while.

And yeah, this is not a paid marketing thing from Bizu ...for those that might be wondering.
