Nikon D610 dust and oil issue

The early reports from early adopters are in. Did Nikon solve the issue with this iteration?
The word is that Nikon finally did it right this time and people are not seeing those pesky dust and oil patches on the sensor and image. From D600 reports, people have speculated that the source of the problem is the shutter mechanism of the DSLR. Nikon never really gave an official statement on the issue and it looks like they decided on covering up the past with this update. Based on the new features, a new shutter mechanism was used on the D610 and could probably be the reason why the dust and oil issue was solved. No proper tests have been made yet but someone might be working on that already to provide us with more conclusive results.

Here are the other very few minor improvements on the D610:
  1. Slightly faster burst mode at 6fps (from 5.5fps on the D600).
  2. A quieter shutter mode.
  3. And improved white balance recognition.
Yes folks, that's all. But that's OK because it seems like they were able to take care of the bigger dust and oil issue. The pricing looks the same as the D610 when it was released at about $2,000, roughly Php88,000 with a Php44 exchange rate. The "disgraced" D600 is now available for as low as Php69,000 in the gray market.

Personally, I'd wait for the D610 price to normalize and go lower just like the D600 did. But we're not sure how low the D610 can go because the price of the D600 seems to have lowered due to the dust and oil issue. If I have the skill to clean a camera sensor and/or I can find a clean D600, I'd be hard pressed to justify buying the more expensive D610. So right now, I'll be waiting to see how things develop.
